Encounter: COCKPIT T Four built Nissan S15

Automotive, Encounter, Japan, JDM

COCKPIT is a huge company known for more than just aftermarket builds.  This particular S15 was built by the COCKPIT shop in Tatebayashi, located in the Gunma prefecture of Japan.  Any Initial D fans out there? Anyway, this shop is split up into a few ‘divisions’ for a lack of better terms.  Each of these divisions concentrate on one particular aspect of vehicle modification.  I had to kick off the TAS 2012 coverage with a little Encounter with this machine; there are so many things about it that I like that I had to highlight it outside of the regular coverage.  Click past the break for more.  Let’s go!

Alright, before I post up the breakdown of the day I had yesterday, I’ll give you this little video of a couple pulls of Addy’s Nissan.  It ended up making 373.3 whp on a dyno that usually underrates cars, and it didn’t help that we couldn’t go over 18 psi without blowing the intercooler couplings.  I’d venture to say if conditions were optimal, this engine could make close to 500 whp.  You be the judge – check out the video.  Oh, and I just realized I put Dyno Jet on the credits….well, it wasn’t. I’m just retarded.  It was a Dyno Dynamics dyno, a.k.a ‘The Heartbreaker”.  Stay tuned for a feature and the rest of my Nisei coverage.

160 miles, 8 hours, 2 sandwiches, and 3 beers later I’m back home from San Diego.  We made the trek from LA down south to finally get Adolfo’s HX35 equipped SR20 tuned at Cartune, with a quick stop at Deep’s Garage to prepare a base map.  I brought my camera along and documented the whole thing, and even got some video of a few dyno pulls.  Look forward to this.
