Event: Tokyo Auto Salon 2011 – RH9

.

Describing RH9 in one word would be easy; Power.  The Record Holder 9 club is exclusive to those cars capable of running 9’s in the quarter mile, the 1320, 0-400m; whatever you wanna call it, these things can do it fast.  Once confined only to GT-R’s, it seems like they’ve expanded to other platforms as well; like the almighty Garage G Force X above.  When you think of Japanese tuning, you’ll probably think of a few companies that take part in this club; and you’ll see some of their creations here.  It’s not uncommon to see RH9 badged parts created by these companies as well.  When I picked through these, I realized a lot were on the CF card that had failed on me.  As a result I’m missing some (unhappy face).  There are a few other sites though that have coverage of the RH9 too, so all is well.  Enjoy.

.

And it’s twin, the Varis/G Force X, clad in white and carbon.

.

.

Volk SL’s were ALL over the place at this show.  I think it will be the hot wheel of 2011, and for good reason.  They’re sexy as hell and come in a variety of offsets/sizes.

.

.

This RB26 is nestled inside the bay of a white drag R32.  The body shot was on my failed card.  You can get a glimpse of it in the background of the white EVO X picture.  I love the hard radiator pipes.

.

.

Phoenix Power had the most Skylines on display, the majority of them being R35’s.  However, they also brought out this mint R32 that was rocking a 2.8l stroked RB.

.

.

You can see some of their R35’s in the background with an estimated combined power of 1 trillion horsepower.

.

.

You’ll never get to see them, but Phoenix Power also had the best models imo.

.

.

Up close of the gnarly T88.

.

.

There are those SL’s again.  Volk should give me a free set because SL are my initials.  I’ve seen this car all over the place in OPTION mags, but seeing it in person is absolutely insane.  This is Pit Road M’s GTO circuit racing machine extraordinaire.  There’s a rumor floating around that this thing has close to 1,000HP.

.

.

I love the giant bumper cut-out’s to expose the dual oil coolers.  This car is the most original thing I’ve laid my eyes upon.

.

.

6G72’s are hard to come by.  Even harder?  Aftermarket parts for them.  This one is powered by yet another T88.  All around friendly turbo.  That’s this months Option mag on the hood.  There is a blurb about this car in it.

.

.

From the other side of the Phoenix display.  This white R35, and the red one next to it are basically the companies flag ship cars.  I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of both.  Since the R35’s arrival on the market, Pheonix SPL has easily been the tuning company to concentrate most of their effort and resources on the new engine.

More R35’s

.

.

I wonder how much all that carbon paneling costs?

.

.

R35!  This time from Top-Secret.

.

.

Another R35….wait…No! It’s a R34!  HA!  At last!  Just kidding.  Seriously though, there were a lot of R35’s there.  This GT-R is tuned by famous Skyline tuners Art Tech Hanatsuka: Total Car Life Support…Here is a neat description of the spirit of the RH9 Club from Art Tech’s website.

.

.

Although fitted with a developmental supercharger kit, I find it hard to believe that this CR-Z ran the quarter mile in 9 seconds.  Regardless, it was in the RH9 section.

.

.

A closer look at the bay.  I remember HKS announcing a supercharger kit as well.

.

.

So I saved the best for last.  The Street Special Garage R32 GT-R.  Yes, that link works.  Every site I’ve been to they’ve got the URL wrong.  Anyway, this thing’s a beast.  Let’s enjoy!

.

.

Another RB26 that makes good use of the HKS 2.8 liter stroker kit.  You can just make out the nitrous lines in the engine bay.  An article in February’s Option2 mag mentions they use the nitrous in between 3,800 and 5,000 rpm to achieve the 700hp mark.

.

.

Wide-body aero looks so right on R32s.  Well, that wraps up the RH9 ‘alley’.  I had a few more, but fate denied me the chance to share them.  It was pretty cool to see so many high horsepower cars all lined up together.   RH9 is one club I’d love to be a part of.
