Close Up: Mastermind Odyvia

.

There is an unusual amount of controversy about the look of the Odyvia.  Either you love it or you hate it; usually there is no in-between.  In my opinion, the front end looks like a modern version of what the PS13 front end would look like if Nissan were to make the Silvia again.  I especially like the look of the wide-body Spirit Rei aero, and what it does to the overall look of the car.  I ran into the car at the It’s JDM Yo! meet – check out a few more pics past the break.

The increase in width from the Spirit Rei kit is around 85mm in the rear.  They did a great job on the body work, especially in the transitions between body panels.

When I saw the first Odivya Mastermind built with Restored Japan, I really liked the gradient paint scheme they used.  On this one, I’m not digging the color at all.  Although, I may be biased because I’ve never been a fan of any type of brown paint.

The Leon Hardiritt Orden wheels, 18×10 up front and 18×12 in the rear, are set perfectly.  In the day of hellaflush movements and stance obsessed builds, I’m glad they didn’t get crazy with the offsets.

That’s right.  This thing has a LS6 crate motor.

Something looks off here.  The grills always look crooked on these cars.  I don’t know if it is a defect on the kit, or if it’s just an illusion.  The JDM Odysseys are gorgeous though, and the front fits great on the Silvia chassis.  I couldn’t get a profile shot because I only had my 50mm and there was a grip of people surrounding it.  Just google it, there’s thousands of pictures of it.
