Alright, now that I’m back in the US and have access to a computer again, I can finally post up the last of the Skyline Festival pics. In addition to the meet that was held in the parking lot of Fuji, attendees were given the chance to race their cars on the actual Speedway. Among these were a few real race cars, as well as a handful of perfectly matched replicas. The R32’s were a hit in the road racing scene, and there was no shortage of them at the track during the Skyline Festival. Let’s take a look at some of the machines that were lapping Fuji.
Hard to tell, but this is actually a replica of the famous HKS R32. The actual R32 competed in the JTC Group A series, where the HKS team gained the important knowledge that opened the door to their record smashing Drag Racing program. There are a few subtle clues that give it away though; can you tell which?
.
Here’s a few more shots for you too study.
.
How about this FET Sport replica? Very well done!
.
This 2000 GT-R built by rocking the PMC logo (Prince Motor Company), was one of the older cars on track. If you know your Skyline history, you’ll remember that PMC originated the name ‘Skyline’ before they were absorbed by Datsun/Nissan.
.
Older cars generally tend to need more maintenance though.
.
.
It eventually made it out on track though.
.
Before the racing began, people were allowed to walk in the pit lane/garage area and view the race cars.
.
Aside from the FET replica, this STP/Taisan replica was probably my favorite. The livery is spot on, and I love the wheel choice. This R32 used to also compete in the JTC Group A class.
.
.
How about the Kyoseki R32? Can you tell if it’s real?
.
The most popular area was around the Calsonic cars – no, not because of the flag girls. It’s because Mr. Hoshino, former championship driver, now team director, of the Calsonic R32 was signing autographs. Mr. Hoshino is also the president of the Impul Racing Team and has many fans.
.
.
Speaking of Calsonic, can you tell which is the real race car? I’ll give you a hint – look at the Bridgestone decals.
.
Nissan brought out an offical R35 pace car. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was already at the track.
.
A couple shots of some other R32’s in attendance.
.
How’s that for some front camber?
.
Here is some info on that PMC marked 2000 GT-R that was posted earlier.
.
Well, that’s it for the Skyline Festival.
.
I’m sure next year will be just as good, if not better, as the R35 sales increase, and the classics get even classier. Thanks again JDM Clips!
