Event: Nisei Showoff 2011 v.2

.

On my way back from LA tonight my friend Adolfo hit me up and told me to cruise by his house; he was installing his Tomei camshafts and wanted some company.  We’re driving down to San Diego tomorrow (errr, today, it’s 3:31AM) to get it tuned, and wanted everything ready before the morning.  I know that’s  a random introduction to the second part of my Nisei coverage, but it’s also my excuse for it being late.  If this post gets pretty boring halfway though, let me apologize ahead of time.  It’s late, I should be in bed already, and have a lot of pictures to post.  I’ll start off with this gorgeous S2000 that was part of The Chronicles GENERATIONS line-up.  Joe has some great coverage of it up already so be sure to check out his site.  Click past the break for more.

.

White NSX on matching Regas – also part of the GENERATIONS display.

.

.

Big Mike’s Prelude on Mag Blue Volks.

.

.

Mike’s bay definitely raises the bar for future builds.  I think there were over 20 cars in The Chronicles display alone.  If you’re involved in the scene then you’re probably familiar with most, but even I had to jog my memory a bit to remember some…

.

.

…like Kane’s EJ coupe.  I remember sometime around the late 90’s this car rocking a set of 17″ Racing Hart’s, or maybe it was Tenzo’s.  I still can’t remember, but it’s been around, and is definitely part of Southern California’s history in the Honda scene.  It’s cars like this that make me happy I never got rid of my civic.

.

.

Perfect EM1 – remember this from Eibach?

.

.

One aspect I’ve always liked about Nisei is the diversity of the car makes.  This matte black EVO is a regular at the shows.

.

.

The brightest 240 ever.  Diggin’ the two tone wheel combo.

.

.

The fitment of the TE37’s on this NSX was perfect.  This was by far one of my favorite cars at the show.

.

.

Ron Burgundy’s 350Z;  Stay classy America.

.

.

So, I had a profile shot of this whole car, but since I was shooting on such a low ISO I botched the exposure.  This color is actually quite difficult to shoot in the bright sunlight.  Chalk that up to my inexperience of shooting cars.

.

.

I had a laugh at the Bowls sticker; even though I hate cigarettes.

.

.

I thought this 8th gen looked pretty clean.  I didn’t understand why the owner would use SRR bumper ties if he’s going for a clean look like that.  I used to use those on my beater/track daily until I just got lazy and switched to zipties.  The front would flow a lot better if they weren’t there.

.

.

Vinyl dressed Subaru on Advans.

.

.

Always good to see a Supra or two at these shows – adds to the diversity.

.

.

LS swapped S14; another show regular.

.

.

C10 ハコスカ bringing some history to the show.  There were quite a few classic Japanese cars at the show.

.

.

Case in point – this Toyota 2000GT.  Hope to see more of this car at this years JCCS.  I’ll also have a close up feature with some more shots soon.

.

.

This IS-F was a nice surprise.  It was posted up next to the other Toyotas.  The aero styling reminds me a little of the Mercedes AMG aero.

.

.

No comment needed here.  I like LFA’s even if they are yellow; and I hate yellow.

.

.

Nice lineup of RX-3’s added to the classic side of the show.

.

.

.

.

.

I really like the color blue of this hatchback. I remember the inherent smell of marijuana around this area as well.

.

.

I don’t remember ever seeing this coupe recently.  It had a pretty clean K-swap.  I’m pretty sure the owner likes Angry Birds; enough to wear one on his shirt.

.

.

RHD EG.

.

.

Here’s something you don’t see often at car shows…or on the street even.  A Toyota Yaris.  I’m not sure how I feel about this yet.

.

.

A better shot of Infinit Wheels panda coupe.

.

.

.

I’ll end with a shot of the BP VIP Celsior.  I spent like half the day looking at this thing at Wekfest LA, and it’s still looking good.  I apologize for the cookie cutter coverage of this post.  I had to get the bulk of the show out of the way.  I really try to show a little of everything so you get a feel for the whole environment of the show.  Look for part 3 later this evening.  Time for 4 hours of sleep, a 2 hour car ride, and some really loud DYNO pulls!
