Event: The Rally Cars Of Megaweb Festa

.

OK, so this STi technically isn’t a rally car; it’s actually a race car.  However, I figured with Subaru’s ties to the WRC being so strong, I’d include it in the bunch.  One of the coolest things about the Megaweb Festa was that show-goers could take turns riding shotty in all the rally spec cars – all smiles there I’m sure.  If I had the opportunity I’d probably pretend to be the navigator, but I’d give all the directions in English so the Japanese drivers wouldn’t understand.  They’d probably just get distracted and agitated at me – muhahaha.  Check out some shots below the break.

The STi was driven by none other than Eiji Tatsumi, the winner of the coveted 24h Nurburgring Race (in his respected class of course).  I have a feeling he speaks English too, so if I got a ride along with him I’d just keep quiet.

A close up of the Mitsubishi Lancer Zero Car.  This Rally Japan EVO X was one of the cars you could get a ride-along in.

Looks like a Japanese police car on steroids – if Japan were some sort of desert island that required police to have rally cars as standard issue.

Mitsubishi also brought out their WRC05 (2005 WRC car) rocking street tires.  You all know it’s been quite some time since Mitsubishi retired from the WRC, but hopefully we will see them back again soon.

The Monster Tajima built Suzuki SX4.  This tiny thing packs a mean punch, much like all Monster built cars.  Peep the Go Pro cam on the rear window.

Be sure to check out JDM Clips for some video footage of these machines ripping up the street.  I’m officially off my lazy streak and will be updating the site more regularly for September…I hope.  As always, thanks for visiting!
