I haven’t really had time to read on forums and other blogs about AutoCon because I’ve been so busy, but if I had to guess at what people are saying about it I would imagine some of the comments would be unjustly negative. People have a tendency to exaggerate things when they don’t go their way; but that’s just human nature. Anyway, aside from a few hiccups during roll-in that caused delays, I had a great time at this show. I didn’t attend last year, and had been really look forward to this one. I assumed the show would draw quite a crowd, so we showed up pretty early to have some time to shoot before gates opened at 12. Justin was great at organizing the media list, but unfortunately, due to the somewhat unorganized parking, media didn’t get to go in until general admission time. Again, not a huge deal, but it defeats the purpose of having a media list. With that said, I’d like to thank Justin and everyone else involved with Auto Connection and the cause it supports. I look forward to a bigger and better show next year – and of course, with time, things will get more organized. OK, if you’ve read this much your probably wondering why I opened with a shot of a M3. NDF is mainly Japanese, but I couldn’t help snap some shots of the German’s at this show. There were some awesome BMW builds. Click past the break for volume 1 of the coverage!
While waiting to be let in, I made the most of our situation and started snapping some shots as the cars were rolling in. I was too lazy to change lenses at this time…hence the strange composition.

You should all know this car by now – sans HKS livery. This Altezza takes best of show pretty much anywhere it parks.
.
I first saw this Vertex adorned S14 at WekFest in Long Beach. Here it is again, waiting to park, on a different set of wheels.
.
AutoCon was cool because they literally had every kind of car being showed. Some were great, others weren’t…and then there is some cool stuff like this FC. Different. You can see certain things that will be trending hard pretty soon…
.
A handful of Fits that were browsing for parking spots. I’m not 100% sure, but I think the lot was organized mostly by teams.
.
These photos are in pretty random order, but I can say that I will be posting a lot of pictures of TL’s and TSX’s. There are some builds that I really like, and some that I don’t, but the majority are really nice. It’s great to draw inspiration for my new TSX…
.
I’m not sure if the color of these Work’s matches the sandstone color of the car, but it’s definitely a good looking wheel for the chassis.

There was no shortage of R35’s either. I can’t say it enough; I’m so glad Nissan blessed the US with this car.
.
One of the more wild TSX builds I saw that day. I’m not too sure how I feel about those rear fenders and skirts, but the body work looked good.
.
G37 from the SoCal guys. This is a crappy picture that doesn’t do the paint color justice. I remember talking to the owner at a previous show, and I think he told me it was an OEM color. It’s like a dark purple.
.
SoCal EVO. The bay on this car is awesome. ARC’d out.
.
Remember what bay this F is mounted in?
.
That’s right…a Toyota Celica.
.
Another shot of that FC. I like it.
.
I thought for sure I’d see more of the re-released Meister CR-01’s around this show, but I surely didn’t think I’d see them on a bB. Looks like a good match though!
.
As usual, Air Runner had an awesome display of VIP rides bagged to the ground. I’ll have more in later posts.
.
I’ll wrap the first part up with this pretty sweet LS400 on SSR’s at the Auto Fashion spot. Sorry for the shortened post, but I gotta get to sleep. I got a shit load of stuff to take care of in the morning at work and I’m exhausted. Check back tomorrow for more coverage, and if I can get to it, some more Nismo Festival coverage. There’s a ton of awesome cars I have yet to post from AutoCon. Thanks for visiting!
