Event: Nismo Festival 2011 v.1

OK, I’ve been putting this off for too long.  AutoCon can wait – it’s time for Nismo Festival coverage!  Held at Fuji Speedway annually, Nismo festival is the mecca of all things Nissan and, really, there couldn’t be a better venue!  On clear days, like this, Fuji-san is a visually dominating feature.  However, Nismo did their best to offer a variety of street and race cars to distract you from the great mountain view.  The highlight of this year’s festival had to be the motor sports ‘garage sale’ that Nismo put together.  Offering various wheels, and body parts from Super GT cars at extremely low prices – great for home decoration and collecting!  Imagine taking home a pair of Mag Volk wheels from a Super GT machine for $10 each!  How awesome of a coffee table would that make?  Anyway, click past the break for volume 1 of the coverage!

Vendor sections lined the parking areas outside the garages.  All the Japanese tuning staples were present slanging goods for cheaper than you want to know…The guy on the far left looks like Gumby.

Volk was displaying hard like usual.  They had all the new wheels introduced in 2011 on show, and a few other goodies for sale.

Bridgestone brought out one of their support trucks and teamed up with Prodrive for display.  They had a menacing pair of 370’s standing guard for the day.

If you’ve ever seen Fuji Speedway in person, you’ll know the garage space is extensive.  Inside one of the garages, Nismo put together a display of Leaf testing photos, as well as two Nismo built Leafs….Leaves?  haha  Hey!  Where in the world is that flat black one??

Nissan has got some history in Japan.  You all  know that.  Next to the Leaf display was a myriad of old Datsun’s.  Cars made as early as the late 1950’s all the way through to today were in order throughout the garage.

How about this C110 ケンメリ? Vintage or what?  If I owned this car I’d keep it in my living room…it would never see the streets of Los Angeles.  Ever.

Err..skipping ahead a few generations.  If you’ve ever played Gran Turismo you know all about these guys.  Nissan was heavy in LeMans all the way through the 90’s.  They had on display almost all their R300 series builds.  You can see a bit of the R390 in the back there…

I don’t care what you people think; Silhouette cars are awesome.  This R31 is a great example – I actually have a die cast of this car I picked up in Tokyo somewhere…

Cars old and new hit the track throughout the day to put on a show for the thousands of spectators.  From Sunny’s to Leaves…hahaha.  OK I’ll stop.

Like all Japanese festivals, the parking lot is as much of a show as the festival itself!

No company has a closer relationship than Motul and Nissan.  Here is their old R31 House built ‘Super GT’ Skyline.
