Close-Up: The Wheels of the Wek’

.

I thought it would be a cool idea to make a post from an entirely different perspective for once – or, one perspective only actually.  There were so many people at the event, that as I stanced myself down to photograph the wheels of cars, I’d always catch someones shoes in the background.  It’s a little funny if you think about it – a car’s wheels are kind of like it’s shoes.  I thought it was fitting (ha! fitting – get it?) to throw together a little post of some of the best shots that portrayed this.  Plus, I love how these shots come out with the 50mm prime, so I wanted to share anyway.  This just makes it a little more fun!  Click past the break to view the ‘shoes of the wek, starting with these yummy step-lipped Meisters!’

Advan RS’ look fantastic on EVO’s – it’s one of those wheels that will look good one just about anything; like a TE-37.  See the real shoes in the background?

.

.

Not as fancy as the first S1’s posted, but just as nice.  These gold Meisters fit this SW20 very nicely!  Check out the pair of walking shoes on it’s way towards me…beginning to see the theme here?

.

.

You can see just how popular the S1 was at this show.  This set was especially cool as it matched the car perfectly; color and everything.  Then there is some kids dirty shoe in the background.

.

.

Minty things and skinny jeans.  Not sure what kind of wheels are one this Scion, but it made for a good picture.  More dirty shoes in the background…

.

.

I can’t think of a better wheel than the Work 11R’s  that were on the Vertex S14.  I remember at last year’s Wekfest LA, it had a set of Wedsports on it…

.

.

OK, I didn’t actually realize that just about every wheel I shot was made by Work at the time…damn…

.

.

Yes! There are actually real shoes in this picture, just way in the back.  I think this is a set of VIP Modular wheels on this Z33.  Looks like it’s rocking a set of Jay’s dice valve stem caps too!

.

.

Check out the teal Nike’s in front of that NSX :P

.

.

Custom orange colored Volk RE30’s adorned the corners of this teal EVO.  Not so custom white tennis shoes adorned the feet of the spectator in front of the R33…

.

.

No wheels here, but it is an incredible picture of Angie’s boots.  This is the picture that made me think to do this.  Look at the expression on the NSX; it’s almost like it feels sorry for my crappy jokes.

.

.

I’ll end this madness with this spectacularly low G35 on a set of Volk GT-S.  A very classy wheel that is often overlooked.  I have no idea what kind of real shoes anyone was wearing in this post.  Goes to show you how fashion forward I am.  I own a pair of converse and some New Balance running shoes…Hope you enjoyed the side post!  I have enough photos from Wekfest SF to easily make two more posts, so stay tuned!  Thanks for visiting!
