Event: Slammed Society x Fatlace Car Show – Long Beach v.1

.

Like I had said in my previous post, I hadn’t planned on going to Formula D, and I really didn’t plan on inquiring about a media pass (although from the looks of it I probably should have!).  So, to say I was lucky I got in would be an understatement.  I didn’t get many great shots of the actual tandem runs because the track was pretty well fenced off and the parts that you could have possibly shot through had huge banners covering it.  That, and my zoom lens is a piece of shit.  Seriously, worst lens ever.  I don’t even know why I bother lugging it around.  It’s OK though because I have another new prime on the way – a must for the Super GT & Taikyu races I’ll be shooting soon.  Anyway, there was some serious down-time in between rounds so I had some good opportunities to snap the show that was going on in the parking lot.  Every year Slammed Society and Fatlace put on a car show concurrent with the Formula D event.  I never really bothered with it all the other times I went to Formula D here, but since there was nothing else to do I decided to check it out.  There was the usual mix of awesome and not so awesome cars.  I did get a chance to meet up with a few people, and make friends with some new faces which was great.  Take a closer look at the show past the break.

You can see, near the front and rear fenders, that this S2000 used to be really, really bright green.  While the Amuse kit stays the same, the owner has wrapped it in a pretty cool colored vinyl.  Much better than the green me thinks.  The Enkei PF01’s look great against the matte goldish color too.

.

This very well built RX-7 on Mag Blue Volk SL’s was one of the nicer builds at the show.  The Mag Blue matches the yellow rather nicely, but I think it would look great in white.

.

.

An extremely low 350Z on some fat lipped Equip 5 spokes.  There are so many slammed 350’s floating around now I’m not even sure who’s this is or if I’ve seen it before.

.

.

Some of the usual Honda’s were in attendance; like this good looking DA.

.

.

Danny’s Plus One EJ8 – He’s getting the courage up to part this thing out and I keep bugging him to take pictures o fit before he does.  One of my favorite coupes.

.

.

Here’s a car you don’t see too many of – the Evolution III.  I think I recall seeing this at Mitsubishi Owner’s Day last year.

.

.

It had a good number of people going up to get a closer look at it.  Most people probably didn’t know what it was…

.

.

.

The EVO III was parked next to this white Miata.  The owner has a company, Autokonexion, that makes these custom tear-drop hard tops.  Pretty wild if you ask me; it’s like a mini S2000.  Those Equip’s are actually Cody’s old wheels.

.

.

VIP Y34 – always nice to see this car.  It seems to frequent all the California shows.

.

.

Couldn’t call it Slammed Society if there weren’t many slammed cars right?

.

.

This GS from Royal Flush was the definition of slammed.  I just noticed the guy in the picture has the most neutral looking expression I’ve ever seen.

.

.

I was kind of digging this RHD Integra on Mugen’s.  I talked to the owner a bit and he mentioned that he did the conversion himself and that he daily drives it.  I thought that was kind of cool.  He did the conversion on the civic next to it as well.

.

.

A pair of Regamasters – gold and white.  You can see that the condos on Ocean street have a great view to the race and show.

.

.

One of the lowest S13’s I’ve seen, ever.  I’m not sure if this thing was on air or if this is how they drove it to the show.  After living in Long Beach for the past 6 years, I’m going to assume that there is no way they can drive that low around the streets here without losing major body parts.

.

.

Some usual Honda suspects.  I’ve always really liked this CRX.  There was definitely no shortage of Falken representation here this weekend – be it at the show or on the track.

.

.

I think this is Joey’s (The Chronicles) Y33.  Looks comfy, I like the polished Equips too.

.

.

Another Honda I don’t mind seeing at each show.  I like the staggered TE-37’s.  I’d be scared to drive a car this perfect though.  I’ll leave off here.  I have a a lot more shots, but don’t want to overload everything yet.  I’ll post up some of the Formula D cars next post.  I’m gonna be out of town for work the next couple days, so I’ll try to throw something together in the hotel room.  As always, thanks for visiting!
