Looks like Totoro and I are set to take another trip across the ocean to Japan. While, he looks packed, I’m sure as hell not. 5 hours away from my flight I had better start finding some clean clothes to throw in a case. For those that will ask – grey Totoro drives a R35. I’ve been mentioning my upcoming trip in some of the more recent posts, but let me take a few quick minutes to lay it out for you. Arriving Saturday morning, a little too early Saturday morning if you ask me, I’ll be thrown into the land of everything we love. I’m no stranger to Japan by any means, but this will be my first trip dedicated solely to the Japanese automotive culture. I’ll be teaming up with my friend from JDM Clips, and together we’ll be taking over Tokyo like Godzilla when he fought Rodan. Our first target? Super Taikyu Endurance at Twin Ring Motegi. Followed by a quick Shinkansen trip West to visit a few awesome shops and feature cars in the Nagoya area. The garage visits will continue throughout the week until we move our way to Fuji Speedway to attend the second round of Super GT. Sprinkle some after sundown highway action in the middle, a couple good meals, lots of good drinks, some really tall buildings, way too many saturated colors, really great people, some evening city soul stealing, combini raids, photo walks, 18 story electronic stores with people shouting at you on loudspeakers, countless cans of coffee, 100 foot robot replicas, the obligatory vending machine photograph and lots and lots of trains and you have one hell of a journey. Well, actually, a pretty typical trip to Japan. Cheers everyone, and I hope you enjoy the coming coverage; I do this for you.
