Event: Wekfest East 2012 – New Jersey V.2

.

It’s 2 am on Saturday morning, I don’t have work tomorrow (edit – I DO have work today), and I’m stacked up on caffeine; I may as well get started on posting the second round of Wekfest East.  Yuta’s civic was having some work done at a shop in Upland this past week, and this evening we drove up there to pick it up.  While in the area, we decided to meet Kodi Chan at Maxim off the 60 in Rowland Heights.  I don’t get to see Kodi that often so it was nice that it worked out that way.  I ended up drinking way too much coffee though, and as a result am writing this right now.  I’m sure I’ll wake up tomorrow…err..today, and read this and it probably won’t make any sense to me.  I just thought for some reason you should know why this post will be comprehensively poorly written.  Right.  Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get back to the New Jersey convention center to check out more of the cars at Wekfest.  In this post, I’ll wrap up what I have left of the roll-in and get started on showing the masses of cars that were in attendance.  I gotta say, as I look back on each car as I edit them, I’m finding more and more cool things I didn’t notice initially.  I’ll point some of the things out as I go.  Also, you can once again see the thought that went into the variety of cars showing.  If you’re not familiar with the tour, not just anyone can come show.  The Weksos staff hand pick out of hundreds, and sometimes thousands of applicants to ensure a great show.  For now, click past the break to see part 2 of the coverage.

The lighting in the convention center was a bit strange to me.  On one hand it provided some unique shadows and highlights, and on the other it made it pretty difficult to capture the detail of the cars.  Extreme light contrasts like in this picture kinda look cool though.  Speaking of lighting, this guy has a headlight out.  Really cool Subaru though.

This Panamera was pretty insane.  The thing looked extremely luxurious, but still maintained a little sport to it.  I remember when Porsche first released this car; I couldn’t stand it.  However, like quite a few things in life, it grew on me with time.  I think it’s a gorgeous car now.

I was really digging this turbo S2000 that was in line after the Porsche.  There were a few things that really stood out to me…

.

.

…the first being how well it looked with the OEM mirrors, and the second being the very unique Voltex wing.  Not your typical GT wing…

.

.

…and another cool little feature were the reflective RAYS decals on the white TE37’s.

.

.

Pretty neat E46 M3 – I just like this picture.

.

.

Wingless FD making it’s way into the center.

.

.

.

Joy’s Subaru, if I remember correctly, ended up taking 2nd in the Best Subaru categor (edit – Joy took 1st place!).

You might have to bend your neck a little for that first picture; but this NSX was rocking the almighty Sorcery widebody kit.  It’s a very GT inspired look, quite different from the other NSX’s that were in attendance.

.

.

Pretty cool looking hatch at the FlipzCo booth, although I never really found out what FlipzCo was.  I like the color on this car a lot.

.

.

.

.

Some really nice engine work on this S2000.  Turbo setups with the hood vented wastegates are becoming pretty popular.  Great attention to detail here.

.

.

Mugen inspired hatchback.  I’ll have more on this later – the owner did a great job of sticking to one theme.

.

.

.

I thought this Fit was pretty cool.  I typically prefer the first gen Fit, but this newest offering is actually pretty sporty looking.  Well, if you’re this guy and own this one anyway.

.

.

.

Incredibly clean Z32 that ended up taking best Nissan.  I didn’t even know it was possible to make a 300Z engine bay this organized…

.

.

The last of the 3 (?) NSX’s that were on display that day, was, in the scheme of things the most mildly built.  The classic lines of the car match the Work wheels great.

.

.

I really liked this SC430 – the color was very unique.   A good example of the USDM type VIP style that has been getting extremely popular here in the states.

.

.

It was parked next to this Veilside kitted FD.  Not much to say about it other than it’s Veilside – super crazy.

.

.

Gold and black themed, Air Walker equipped civic coupe.  The owner tied the colors in together pretty nicely.  I see a lot of cars were running Full Race manifolds too – it seems they’re more popular out in the East.

.

.

Nice S2000 on Mugen MF10’s and a BYS front lip.  Very simple, yet so good looking.

.

.

.

Tomei built RB26 swapped S15.

.

.

.

Legitimate RHD EVO 6.  Whenever I see these I think of Jackie Chan – know what I mean?

.

.

Another shot of that purple R34.  Funny story – there were some models walking around taking pictures on all the cars.  I was on the other side of the aisle when I hear someone screaming, “NO NO NO!”.  I turn around and the owner of this car is running towards the models who were about to sit on his hood – hahaha I felt a little bad for the models, but was kind of happy to see that not everyone succumbs to the scantly clad breezies walking around.  I wouldn’t let anyone get near this car either…

.

.

.

There were a handful of nicely built Honda’s in the show as well.  However, the turn out for Honda was no where near what I’m used to in California.  This is probably what stuck out the most to me between the two coasts.

.

.

A couple of the VIP builds were rocking little leds along the side skirts – cool touch.

.

.

Weksos swag at their booth.  I’ll kill it here for now; I think you now have a good taste at the variety that Weksos promotes at their shows.  They are truly a company that caters to all types of builds.  Check back later this weekend for part 3 from New Jersey.  Have a nice Saturday or Sunday depending on where you’re at!
