Site News: Select Canvas Prints – Time Limited Release

canvas2

I’m very excited to finally be able to release these after working to perfect them for the last month.  When I offer something with the NDF name attached to it, I want to be absolutely sure that I am offering the most quality product I can produce; often enough that means that things take time.  I apologize for the lack of HKS Premium Day coverage, but at least now I am able to explain to you all my reasoning behind it (and hopefully be able to start with the posting of my coverage).

I realized I wanted to do something special with some of these photographs the minute I stepped foot onto Fuji Speedway.  The atmosphere of Japanese motor sport was very much alive.  A feeling that is typically lost or not emanated properly through the pixels in your computer monitor.  I wanted to do my best to convey that to people through my pictures, but not just in a generic way…I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to try and get that feeling as well.

It’s for that reason that you’ll never see these particular images online; ever.  If you choose to purchase one of these beautifully printed canvas’s, then you will be one of the few who actually own the image.  It will be yours.

It’s strange, but having a piece of work in print gives it so much more meaning.  It really does resemble a painting; vivid in color, the ink touch and go throughout the cloth.

These will be offered in runs of 11; each will be signed and numbered.  I haven’t quite decided yet, but every so often a new canvas, with a new image, will be released (perhaps once a month).  Again, in runs of 11.  All printed on stretchable canvas (meant to be stretched to a frame much like a canvas you purchase at a craft or art store).  Or for a more raw, artistic look, they are able to be framed as is.  Each print will leave you enough room to work with no matter which route you take.

Whether you stretch the canvas, or frame as is, I would highly recommend doing either.  These are not cheap in quality or materials and as they will be very limited, I’d hate to see them get damaged in any way.

Each canvas will be as pure as possible.  Meticulously chosen, with no watermarks, no gimmicky editing, no over-processing, just 100% pure Japanese motor sport.  Of course, starting off with the car I believe embodies that purity the most; the Pan Speed FD3S.  A car that has not only stood the test of time, but has evolved to crush it.

I wish the photos of the canvas did it justice, but honestly they don’t.  Nevertheless, I hope you get excited about these as much as I did!

I’ve been busy with a lot of other work, but I should have all the details ironed out by the beginning of March, in which I will launch the first 11 of the Pan Speed FD canvas.  Details including final sizing, availability (although I’m pretty set on runs of 11), and pricing.

Again, I hope that this idea sits well with all of you, I think this is one great way to show the appreciation we all have for Japan and their unique niche in motor sport.

Thank you

Sean
