On the Sunday of February 22nd, VTEC Club held the second event of their 5 round season at Big Willow at Willow Springs International Raceway. The excitement and success of the first round no doubt carried through to the club’s follow up event with, once again, over 50 entrants participating. To say the day was perfect though, would be a stretch. The week leading up to the event, the temps in Southern California had steadily been dropping, and rain was on the forecast for race weekend. Ryan was once again on hand to grab some shots of the event.
The morning of the event, just as the forecast eluded to, the skies above Big Willow cracked open and doused the circuit in a sheet of rain – breaking the Golden State’s stereotype of having sunshine and blue skies 365 days a year. While it may have made for slower lap times, it sure helped spice up the dull backdrop of WSIR.
Gonna keep this one short; I’ve been up since 2am PST and have been in 3 different states today. Working 12 hour days and traveling every week has started to take it’s toll on me. I do my best to update from airplane to hotel, but it’s a little difficult not only finding time, but to be able to distance myself enough from work to concentrate on the site; whether it be processing images or writing. Anyway, I’ll be back soon with some updates from Japan.
Enjoy the gallery and we’ll be back soon.
See you at Round 3! Literally, I will actually be there this time…
