I wrote an initial draft up about 3 weeks ago for this close-up, but for some reason never got around to publishing it. For that, I apologize, because this is one hell of a car. One great day, at Tsukuba Circuit, an amazing event was held. At this event, Toyota decided to show it’s variant of the FT-86. Ever since the FT-86, BRZ, or FR-S has made it’s debut in it’s geographically appropriate location, the tuning world has been abuzz with excitement. Now, with the Super GT BRZ, and the D1 FT-86, we’re all dying to see what’s next. Well, it seems that TRD has our answer. With the FT-86 being officially on sale in Japan for about half a month now, it’s unlikely we’ll see any personally owned ones tuned any time soon. Toyota has done an excellent job in marketing their newest offering, and the TRD tuned FT-86 is the icing on the cake. Click past the break to see more.
One glance at the TRD FT-86 and you can already notice some major changes. The newly designed aero pieces, the gigantic brake setup, and the aggressive wheels give way to what the car was really designed for.

Get a close look at those massive 6-pot calipers and the matching 355mm discs. You could almost argue that the setup is a bit overboard for a 200hp car that weighs in at a mild 2,700 pounds, but your arguments would go unheard; because they would be made out of jealousy. Equally impressive 4-pot calipers help stop the car in the rear. Seen here with it’s older brother, the AE86.
.
The FT-86 sits a bit lower to the ground compliments of new springs, as well as a few other unseen suspension upgrades. What I wouldn’t give to try this out on Tsukuba! I especially like the duckbill spoiler.
.
The TRD version’s interior sees little change from the Limited Edition interior in the GT offering. The coolest feature being the TRD starter button. While the FA20 remains stock, I must say, TRD did a great job of mildly tuning the FT-86 to offer more without going overboard. I can’t wait to get a few miles behind the FR-S model here in the states. Hope you enjoyed the closer look. Thanks for visiting. Photos courtesy of JDM Clips.

this car looks fabulous. I’m looking fwd to SEMA ’12 where there are bound to be some kick ass FT 86’s for sure..
I really like the molding around the exhaust, it gives the pipes that powerful look. And the duck bill spoiler is just right on it! My dreams are clouded with smoke from this baby burnin rubber!
