Event: Super GT Round 2 – Throwdown at Fuji Speedway v.3

.

In two weeks the Super GT teams will make their way over to Malaysia for the third Round of the series that takes place at Sepang International Circuit.  So, that means I have two more weeks to show you coverage of the Fuji race!  Just kidding; I have a few more shots of the race left, so I’ll throw them into this post.  I also have some cool shots from qualifying that I’ll sprinkle around throughout the rest of the week.  Judging by the traffic, it seems like you guys are enjoying this series.  It’s really a unique race with some awesome cars – for me it was really enjoyable to watch, photograph, and now share.  Hope you are enjoying it – click past the break for more .

The Honda HSV is no doubt one of the toughest looking cars on the grid.  If only Honda had produced this – would have made a great predecessor to the NSX.

.

.

The GT300 Subaru BRZ is another mean looking car.  If you haven’t noticed by now, the easiest way to differentiate  a GT300 car from a GT500 car is the headlights.  All GT300 cars have yellow headlights.

WedsSports Lexus SC430 shooting down the straight.

.

.

Probably the most well known car in Super GT – the Motul Autech GTR.

.

.

…and maybe the second most well known?  Calsonic GTR.  I love the way the body lines look in this shot – crazy wide!  This thing was spitting fire all day.

.

.

After the race, the majority of the cars parked towards the front of the straight awaiting inspection.  All the cars, especially the winning ones, are scrutinized and checked for various things.  This is typical in most racing series.

.

The Iwasaki R8.  It started raining pretty heavy again at the end of the race.

You can really see the uniqueness of the swan wing of the Lexus’ in this shot.  I can’t decide whether it’s awkward or elegant looking.  AP Racing supplies most of the brakes for the series – they’re performance is hard to beat.

Another shot of the wing.

Blocking rain from the throttle bodies by use of paper cups – ingenious.

.

.

The winning GT300 car – Good Smile Racing BMW.  This team has some ‘passionate’ fans.

EVA Racing team and it’s crazy Mooncraft Shiden MC/RT-16.  The car is powered by a 1UZ-FE and is quite capable.  Not to mention the teams jumpsuits are probably the coolest on the grid.  There’s plenty more Super GT action on NDF – so if you’re into then stay tuned.  I got some good stuff from Spoon and Type One coming up first though.  Also, if you ever have any questions about a Japanese racing series, go ahead and email me or shoot it in the comments section – I’ll do my best to answer it.  I get a lot of emails about real specific parts on cars and what not, but not so many on general rules and regs. Sorry for the shortness of this post, I’ve got a grip of things to do before I go to work.  Gotta run!  Thanks for visiting.
