Event: Nismo Festival 2011 v.2

.

Ahhh, Nismo Festival.  A celebration of all things Nissan.  Oh, wait.  I already introduced this coverage with some mediocre commencement.  Let’s dive right in to the second part of the Nismo Festival coverage with these RC cars.  No, not radio controlled.  RC stands for Racing Competition in this case; a series of cars built by the NISMO factory specifically for competition.  When I say specifically for competition I mean just that – you cannot drive these on the street; and yes, they are expensive.  But if the car isn’t enough, and you’re looking to spend even more money, you can also buy NISMO’s technical support upon delivery.  Think of it as a warranty on steroids.   Let’s check out some more past the break.  You guys are in for a treat with this post…

.

Honestly, at over $160,000, the RC spec 370Z is nothing to laugh at.  This car is serious.  With a NISMO tuned VQ that puts out over 350whp, adjustable Ohlins suspension, a Brembo/Endless brake package, a JAF approved 9 billion point weld in roll cage, Recaro seats, Volk TE37’s wrapped in Advan slicks and a 95 liter fuel cell you’ll be thinking you’re Orido-san just sitting in the driver’s seat.  I have to say, NISMO did overlook one thing….those god awful side mirrors.  How about throwing some Craft Squares up on it?

.

.

Oh yea, they make a R35 as well.  I’ll let you guess the cost of this.  Again…those mirrors….

.

.

A pair of Techno First built Fairlady’s sitting like a couple of black widows.  Just so you know; I am really digging those air vents on the 370’s…

.

.

Air jacks!  Last year’s GT300 champ, knocked down a peg this year by the BMW Z4.

.

.

Look familiar?  It should, we featured the S Road R35 GTR a few weeks ago.

.

.

.

Look familiar?  It should, because it’s so f***ing bad ass.    It’s also in the wallpaper section.

.

.

Always come prepared with a rubber….or 16 of them.

.

.

Thirsty?  The Advan/Kondo HIS R35 can quench your thirst.  Mainly because one of it’s sponsors is Pepsi…

.

.

.

Throwback?  The Pennzoil R33/R34 combo.  Dang, what’s with all these Nissans??

.

.

Oh yeah, it’s Nismo Festival.  After becoming accustomed to the Super GT R35 GTR, and the current aero package, these R34 cars seem old in their own right.  Strange how fast things advance.

.

.

Outside where the sun was shining bright on all the pretty things.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a S15 on RPF-1’s.

.

.

.

Another look at the Omori Factory built 370Z.  NDF approved.

.

.

.

.

.

In addition to the Omori Factory spec Skylines and Fairlady, they had a sweet booth setup showcasing some original parts and VQ blocks.  They also had some used and abused parts for on the cheap.

.

.

I took a shot of this car on my very first trip to Japan.  I remember walking through Ginza one night, and upon reaching the 4 Chome intersection, stumbled across the Nissan Gallery.  Needless to say, I almost lost it when I saw this beauty rotating in the window.  That was back in 2006; you can really see her age in this shot.  Headlight fog is the equivalent of wrinkles on an old lady…

.

.

This plaque tells it all.  JGTC?  What the hell is that? hahaha  Who uses VQ30’s any more??  Ahhh…why does it seem so long ago?!  In all seriousness, these cars are becoming classics way too quickly.  Slow down Japan.

.

.

Okabe Jidosha may be well known in the Mazda world, but I’ll have you know they built a Nissan too!  All their factory cars compete in the Super Taikyu series.  Visit their page and head to the galleries.  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

.

.

Meanwhile in the bat cave…Calsonic is preparing their R35 pickup truck to battle the pavement of Fuji Speedway.

.

.

These guys have the right idea.  The only thing they’re missing is a couple 500ml Premium Malts.  Actually, they probably do have beer.

.

.

Fuji-san sure is impressive.  Hope you enjoyed the coverage of the festival.  If you haven’t already, go support JDM Clips by clicking the link here or in the sidebar.  JDM Clips has recently hit the 10 million viewer mark and for good reason!  Let’s make it 20 million!  While you’re at it, go like NDF’s official Facebook page!  I’ll be in Omaha, Nebraska of all places for the rest of the week, and then it’s home for the holidays. So, if I don’t post anything until next week, it’s because I’m be relaxing by the fire!  Thanks for visiting, happy holidays and see you soon!
