It’s been several years, but it is a huge relief to finally see Under back behind the wheel of the S15 at Tsukuba. After visiting Scorch Racing last year to see the S15 in it’s final stages of build, I was looking forward to getting to seeing Under turning laps again in the rebuilt car. Unfortunately, despite seeing him twice at TC2000, I still haven’t seen it actually on track. Both times Under has brought the car out for testing, he has run into engine trouble. The first outing a faulty fuel pump cut the day short, and this most recent event the engine may have thrown a piston. The engine in the car is the same one previously used at Sydney some years ago, however it was pulled apart and the crankshaft was replaced. Pistons and con rods were all reused, and may be the culprit. Under is in good spirits, however, and understands all too well the need to learn from the setbacks. The car is back at Scorch and no doubt we’ll see him back out soon.
