My friend Ryo made the drive to Yokohama all the way from his hometown in Nagano to hang out while I was in Japan last week. I’ve been in his area before, usually when I visit Garage Mak, but never had the opportunity to shoot his FD while I was there. I wasn’t planning to be in Japan over the summer, so when I posted on X that I was looking to schedule some shoots over the week, Ryo took advantage of his day off and made the drive so I could shoot his RX7. We met at the port, which is a great place to shoot after hours or during the weekend because most stations aren’t operating at that time, leaving us with plenty of backdrops where we wouldn’t be a hindrance to the workers.
Ryo’s FD is a great example of a street driven enthusiast car. The TCP widebody, and classic RE N1-05 front bumper, are splashed in greyish blue hues from a newer Audi, and complemented with black and chrome accents portray his style precisely, while the Racing Titanium Blue Advan GT wheels provide some color against the monochromatic theme of the FD. A pair of Bride Japan seats replace the stock units, and Ryo’s 2 year old daughter joyously occupies the Recaro baby seat affixed to the passenger side. The interior remains intact to the fullest, providing both Ryo and his daughter much needed air conditioning during long drives across Japan. He’s had the 1994 Efini RX-7 for about 11 years now, and has thoroughly enjoyed it for the entire duration.
The 13B remains stock at this time, with no plans to tune it further, as Ryo enjoys the reliability of the factory spec rotary engine.
