Last Sunday, since we were in the area for the Minkara meeting anyway, we decided to stop by the Stance Nation meet at Fuji Speedway. Park and Matt were there as well so it was […]
This afternoon we were in Chiba checking out a few auction sites and decided to swing by Mobara Circuit to check out the tail end of a grip/drift day they were having there. I […]
Tonight (this morning?), we met up with Yusuke-san and went out to catch some of the streeting that was going on outside of Daikoku. I’ll be pretty busy for the next week or so, […]
Sekinei grabbed this shot of the Magician C33 throwing down at Mobara a couple weeks ago. Just a reminder, the Winter Cafe is less than a week away! If you are interested in attending, please […]
We’ll kick off some of the Mobara drift coverage with a closer look at Kato-san’s Z32; one of the more famous drift Z32’s in Japan. Unfortunately later in the afternoon Kato damaged the front end […]
Sekinei went out to Mobara Twin Circuit this past weekend to get some drift coverage at the Sunday meeting. We’ll have some more shots up soon, until then enjoy this one shot of S15 […]
Shoji Auto may not have the best website, but they sure built a good looking Z30…
This weekend Sekinei and friends stopped by Fuji Speedway to check out the SSJ show that was being held there. Not typically where you’d find us, but there are plenty of great cars to be […]
Chiba’s own Asano-san and his 180SX having an enjoy at Mobara Twin Circuit.
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Mao; the owner of the GS300 you see here. Adam, a very easy going and very talented young guy, was nice enough to meet […]
Last week, while I was up in the bay, I stopped by San Jose to take a couple snaps of Adam’s 2JZ Aristo. Check for the full set soon. I apologize for the lack of […]
A couple scattered shots of a few of Rie’s sets at Nikko Circuit. The 500ps RB26 has no problems getting her ER34 sideways. Staging for another run.

This past weekend I flew up to the Bay area to photograph Dino’s Corolla. We were strapped for time on Saturday evening, so we agreed to meet up again to finish up some interior […]
Out of all the times I’ve come to Japan, very rarely does it ever snow. I think, of the 6 years I’ve been traveling here, I’ve only encountered snow once or twice, and it’s never […]
This past week AJ from Risky Devil made the drive across country to hang out on the West coast for a little while. Friday night, before the 626 Drift event at Balcony, some of us […]
It was bad news to hear about the Kazama D1 car getting stolen just prior to this event, but good to see that the team doesn’t give up so easily. Regardless of the bad […]
Since I won’t be back in Japan for about another month, I figured I’d start posting some more of the D1SL content I have that has been ignored for awhile. My friend セキネイ and I […]
This year’s Tokyo Auto Salon has left an impression on us all; how the Japanese tuning and show makings are consistently ahead of every one else never ceases to amaze me. Hundreds of 86’s…err, I […]
Andy from Power Vehicles Ebisu running at Nikko for D1SL. I really like the livery on his cars ~

I was first introduced to this car last time I was at Nikko Circuit for D1SL. The driver, Mitsuru Murakami, is a SEED driver for the Street Legal series; unfortunately, he had some mechanical problems […]
A few weeks ago Teddy blew a coolant hose on his drive home from work. With the 240 being his daily, this seemingly simple issue was one that needed to be addressed quickly. […]
I thought that this shot of Mr. ハマダ キヨフミ and his ECR33 was pretty cool. Garage Dual was tearing it up last time at Nikko – click for a higher res shot.
Going through a few photos this morning and came across this JZX with BN and R33’s that was at Shibaura PA; I thought it was worth sharing. I like the 745i badge the owner put […]
This is one S chassis that I haven’t seen too much of until last month’s D1SL round in Nikko. It’s actually quite different than what we’re used to seeing. I find the reference to American […]
After some friends and I got done playing around taking photos on the expressway one night, we headed over to Shibaura parking area to see if there was anything going on. Daikoku was […]
One of the cars I enjoyed watching most at this past round of D1SL at Nikko was this GP Sports 180SX. The car is driven by コウノ シオン (Kohno Shion) who you may remember by […]
This morning Sekinei and I made the long trip from Tokyo out to Nikko Circuit to check out D1SL Qualifying. We were both quite tired from staying up all last night messing around on […]
Saturday the 22nd, 2012, 6am; the first daybreak of Fall. As the sun casts its new rays upon the horizon, we can say goodbye to Summer, and welcome in the new season. A season filled […]
. Random, but I wonder what happened to this car. I may have to research more… .
So, last weekend I rode up with a couple of friends to Willow Springs Raceway for a drift event at Balcony that was put on by Colab. Whew, that sentence is way longer than it seemed when I started typing it. Now I’m wondering if I should even start this post off with it…whatever. If you don’t know what Balcony is; it’s a spot at the top of WSIR that is used for various things, but it’s probably most known for it’s use as a makeshift drift course. It’s actually a decent spot to practice and I’m sure organizing events there is much cheaper than HTM. I had nothing planned for the weekend when the guys told me about the event, so I figured it would be worth going along to get some practice shooting drift events; I really have never shot drifting before. Also, I’ve been wanting to shoot Kem’s 240 for awhile, and still want to do a decent shoot with it, but it was fun getting some shots of it sideways. That’s his car with the R33 intercooler – it’s a little crooked, but who cares this car is rad. Charlie brought out his RB25 240 as well, and there were a couple other cars out that day as well. This will mostly be random pictures with no story line or commentary because that’s basically what the day was. Pretty much every car broke anyway. Click past the break for more.

As I type this I’m watching the qualifying of the F1 Chinese Grand Prix, and Vettel just got pipped in Q2. He’ll start the race in 11th place; It’ll be interesting to see how he can pull himself through the pack. On a semi-related note, I get to watch Rubens Barichello race his Indy car around the streets of Long Beach tomorrow afternoon; I couldn’t be more excited about that. Lastly, on a note more related than the first, here is some more coverage from Formula D in Long Beach this past weekend. I mentioned before that I didn’t have a media pass, so I apologize for not having action shots, but hopefully you’ll enjoy this look at some of the drift cars in the pits and at the show. Click past the break for more.
Like I had said in my previous post, I hadn’t planned on going to Formula D, and I really didn’t plan on inquiring about a media pass (although from the looks of it I probably should have!). So, to say I was lucky I got in would be an understatement. I didn’t get many great shots of the actual tandem runs because the track was pretty well fenced off and the parts that you could have possibly shot through had huge banners covering it. That, and my zoom lens is a piece of shit. Seriously, worst lens ever. I don’t even know why I bother lugging it around. It’s OK though because I have another new prime on the way – a must for the Super GT & Taikyu races I’ll be shooting soon. Anyway, there was some serious down-time in between rounds so I had some good opportunities to snap the show that was going on in the parking lot. Every year Slammed Society and Fatlace put on a car show concurrent with the Formula D event. I never really bothered with it all the other times I went to Formula D here, but since there was nothing else to do I decided to check it out. There was the usual mix of awesome and not so awesome cars. I did get a chance to meet up with a few people, and make friends with some new faces which was great. Take a closer look at the show past the break.
. Hey NDF! I just got home from an awesome day in downtown Long Beach shooting the first round of Formula Drift and wanted to post up a little preview. Click here, or visit the […]
At the beginning of the month, Super Autobacs Chiba held the 12th annual Rotary Meeting at their facility. JDM Clips was telling me that the Chiba store has always had strong ties with the rotary platform. So each year, it is host to a gathering of specially built rotary machines. This car in particular, is built by R-Magic for Takayama to drift in D1. Don’t confuse it with the R-Magic Super Lap machine, as they are two totally different cars! Each awesome in their own way though – I particularly like the two different colored wheels on this one. Check out more past the break!
I drove back to my hometown this weekend to attend my friend’s wedding. I was looking forward to relaxing at home for a day or so and getting some work done on the website. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. It seems like whenever I go home, I’m pulled in 100 different directions; and there’s never enough time. Needless to say, NDF was M.I.A for the past couple days. Before I turn in for the night I thought I’d throw this post together real quick. During the Hot Version N2 Race at Tsukuba Circuit, the guys over at Drift Muscle, as well as some D1SL contenders, put together a little drifting exhibition. Check it out past the break – and catch video at JDM Clips.
Continuing on with the coverage of Hot Version’s filming at Tsukuba Circuit, we’ll take a look at more of what the garages held, and also get a preview of some of the on-track action. For video of the event, be sure to check out the JDM Clips channel. So far we’ve seen a ton of RX-7’s, the majority of which were competing in Advan’s Amateur Tournament. However, the main attraction over the weekend was without a doubt Hot Version’s N2 Race. AE86 tuners from all over the country travel to compete in this annual event. Check this one out getting a little sideways on track. Click past the break to see more!
