In the weeks leading up to Attack Tsukuba, the whole of the Ibaraki prefecture had been experiencing some crazy strong wind storms. The strong wind made for some miserable track conditions for the drivers, event organizers, and photographers. It was frustrating to say the least, and I think the worst of it culminated during this Zummy Racing event on February 13th – the day before Attack Tsukuba started.
This event had a smaller entry list consisting mostly of drivers that still needed time to test setup, or dial in new modifications. I attended in the hopes that Bando was going to better his RSC300 time, as he had been on a big push that week to break the 50 second barrier. Unfortunately, the conditions didn’t allow that, but before I left I made sure to get enough footage for a comprehensive event video and some photos for a gallery.
As usual, we take a walk around the paddock, looking closely at each of the cars and highlight times and any relevant season changes, and then head out to turn 1 and the first hairpin to get some video on track. The wind was too bad, however, and most people ended up leaving after lunch.
Take a look and enjoy the gallery!
